Overview
The Hero uses 10 dry sensors (9 EEG + A2 reference) and includes active shielding to reduce environmental noise. Data can be streamed via Bluetooth or saved to a microSD card. The system includes removable batteries and adjustable bands to fit different head sizes.
The EEG channels follow the 10-10 system:
- FC3, FCz, FC4
- C3, Cz, C4
- CP3, CPz, CP4
- Linked ear reference: A2
- Ground and reference electrodes on the left clip
The device is intended for research use only.

- Hero 9-channel EEG device
- Two rechargeable batteries
- Chin strap (optional use)
- Foam adjusters (S/M/L)
- Elastic strap sets
- USB–micro-USB cable
- 8 GB microSD card + adapter

Descriptions and diagrams are available in the guide.
Setup Summary
1. Battery and Adjusters
- Insert a charged battery with the device switched off.
- Select matching foam adjusters for both sides so that the fit is stable and symmetrical.
- Attach the chin strap if needed for movement-heavy tasks.
2. Power-On and Connectivity
- Switch the device on.
- The white LED flashes until Bluetooth is connected; steady white means paired.
- The red LED indicates low battery.
- Data can be streamed or saved to the microSD card at the same time.
Bluetooth pairing uses the device’s serial number.
Placement Summary
- Measure the nasion–inion distance and locate Cz (midpoint).
- Place the frame low on the head, with side supports resting above the ears.
- Align the three sensor bands:
- Middle band centered on Cz
- Use the spacing ruler to set the correct distance between FC, C, CP bands
- Gently rock each sensor to make contact with the scalp.
- Attach the A2 clip and ground/reference clips to the earlobes.
- Lower the adjusters to improve contact if impedance remains high.
Detailed placement steps and diagrams are in the guide.
Recording
- Use Bluetooth to stream data to the acquisition software.
- Enable SD Card Record in the software to save data locally.
- Files on the microSD card use .sdf format; convert via Import Record in the Bitbrain software.
- Avoid recording with a low battery.
Battery Handling
- Remove the battery before charging.
- Charge only via micro-USB on the battery itself.
- Do not exceed 0.5 A charging current.
- Do not store batteries long-term at full charge.
Cleaning and Maintenance
- Clean and disinfect the headband after each use, according to user guide instructions.
- Avoid liquids entering the sensors.
